Help your team’s new writing skills stick: Introducing the Write Online toolkit for team leaders

Our library of bite-sized microlearning videos is designed to help people achieve better results through clearer writing. The format makes learning easy to fit in during the working day — whether ‘just in time’ or in a more sustained session.

People love the content and find it helpful in the workplace. But they’re busy, and it’s easy for their to-do lists and other priorities to take over. And even when they do watch a training video, the learning can fade if they don’t get a chance to put the specific points they’ve learnt into practice quickly.

That’s a problem we’ve been thinking about here at Write Online. To complement the content library, we wanted to find a way to make sure the learning doesn’t stop when the video ends.

Meet our new toolkit for team leaders

That’s where our toolkit for team leaders comes in. The toolkit is designed to extend your team’s learning from Write Online. The activities inside are quick ‘clarity bites’ to get your team thinking and working on their writing skills. We’ve prepped all the comms, activities, and answers to share, so it’s easy for you to use with your team.

The activities have been created by one of our experienced trainers, who’s also a Write Online learning specialist. So they understand the elearning scenarios and know what works in live sessions too.

Our first edition of the toolkit focuses on a key collection: ‘The Ten Elements of Clear Writing’. We’ll be releasing more activities about other collections soon.

Why practice makes the difference

When your team gets the chance to practise the skills they’ve learnt about, they’re more likely to:

  • apply concepts directly to their own writing, rather than just understanding them in theory
  • build confidence and habits that make clear writing second nature over time
  • share ideas, discuss, and learn from each other, creating a culture where good writing is a hot topic across the team.

How to use the toolkit

We’ve prepared it all for you — just grab and go! You’ll find everything you need to get started.

Here’s the process in three easy steps.

  1. Send the pre-prepared comms asking your team to watch a specific video or series.
  2. Attach the activity — a short, focused exercise (around 10 minutes) that gets people practising the concepts from the video.
  3. Follow up however suits you — a quick discussion in a team meeting, a Teams chat, or an email thread.

You can choose to do activities as a team or ask people to work on them individually. You can also break up the activities if you’d like to focus on one video at a time.
